Yes. Lily has experience in certain Native American tribal courts. If a child is a tribal member, or is eligible for membership and has a parent who is a member, the federal Indian Child Welfare Act and the Oklahoma Indian Child Welfare Act can apply to adoptions, guardianships, and other placements outside a parent's custody. These laws require notice to the tribe, set placement preferences, and can move a case to tribal court. Tell us at your consultation if tribal membership is possible so we can plan for it from the first filing.
